THE SLOW COMMUNICATION REVOLUTION
Tired of Twitter, txtspeak and emojis?
You asked, we delivered. The world’s original Creative Letter Writing Movement, Dead Letter Club is embarking on an East Coast tour and lands in Wollongong at The Little Prince this October to share cocktails and correspondence with you.
A mashup of creative writing, mystery, parlour games and low commitment pen pals.
Pick up a pen and let the ink flow.
It is now standard to express ourselves through the immediacy of emojis, GIFs, and lols. Communicating in sentences, phone calls and letters is becoming a thing of the past.
We ask, what might be lost because of this? Dead Letter Club is our answer.
“Dead Letter Club was one of the most genuinely creative, powerful and beautiful experiences I've ever taken part in.” Gemma Jones, Craft Victoria
Sending a letter is the next best thing to showing up at someone’s door (we think even better). Ink from your pen touches the stationary, your fingers touch the paper, your spit seals the envelope. Thoughts revealed through the flourishes and flow of the pen, the texture and lingering scent on the paper.
"In an age like ours, which is not given to letter-writing, we forget what an important part it used to play in people's lives" - Anatole Broyard
Dead Letter Club is the slow communication revolution, existing in dedication to the written word through creative letter writing. Assume your nom de plume and through our secret postal service you will correspond with others in the room over the evening remaining unknown to each other. Until the end that is.
NEVER FEAR! We have hundreds of prompt cards for those awkward moments of writers block!
Dead Letter Club is a Creative Social Movement built by Melbourne's cheerleader for creativity, Melanie Knight and is now finding its way across cities all over the world.
Bookings essential. Doors 6.30pm Dead Letter Club 7pm
**PLEASE NOTE**
It is important for participants to arrive by start time - 7pm - and stay for the course of the correspondence. Don't ditch your pen-pal by leaving early.
Wander down Globe Lane and you will find the warm and inviting glow of Wollongong’s original small bar, The Little Prince. Recalling the speakeasy of prohibition days, with craft beers on tap, a carefully selected wine list, a breathtaking array of spirits and liqueurs, countless gins, rums by the dozen and Wollongong’s largest selection of single malt whisky.
