Dead Letter Club, the world’s original creative letter writing movement joins Melbourne Writers Festival with an evening of creative writing, mystery, parlour games and low commitment pen pals.
Pick up a pen and let the ink flow.
In this special film themed event we invite you to reprise a character from the movie and rewrites their story though the lost art of letter writing.
Which villian will you write too, or are you the villian?! Love letters between Batman and Mary Poppins, or correpsondence from Steve Zissou to Royal Tenenbaum? How bout O-Ren Isii and Vincent Vega put pen to paper?
“Dead Letter Club was one of the most genuinely creative, powerful and beautiful experiences I've ever taken part in.” Gemma Jones, Craft Victoria
Sending a letter is the next best thing to showing up at someone’s door. Ink from your pen touches the stationary, your fingers touch the paper, your spit seals the envelope. Thoughts revealed through the flourishes and flow of the pen, the texture and lingering scent on the paper.
Dead Letter Club is the slow communication revolution, existing in dedication to the written word through creative letter writing.
Assume an identity, through our secret postal service you will correspond with others in the room over the evening remaining unknown to each other. Until the end that is.
